Taste
I found the sections on taste in Chapter 15 very interesting for a few reasons. The first of which is the difference in taste preferences in different people. With most people describing the tastes the experience in one of the five taste categories (sweet, sour, salty, bitter, umami), it's amazing that people's preferences in food can vary so much. I am a very picky eater in terms of taste and texture (not in quantity unfortunately), yet most of my family will eat almost anything. I believe that may also be a product of the environment we grow up in, because as a child I wasn't forced to eat a wide variety of foods. It seems like the wider variety of foods that children are exposed to early will expand their potential menu as they get older. This is an interesting point in the raising of children to me, because I almost wish I had acquired a wider base of food selection earlier.
