Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.

Talking about perception always brings me back to how we as humans choose to understand the world around us. Perception as we are discussing now is a physiological process, which we all experience. There are specific paths that we all use to perceive and understand our surroundings and yet the way I perceive something versus the way someone else sees it can be extremely different.

When I think of perception I think about how personality and individuality comes into play. The quote above I think illustrates the point perfectly. Although we all experience the same physiological process of perception, we do not perceive all stimuli the same. This is where we get variation among humans. We all bring past experiences, life views, beliefs and personality to each situation. Therefore every stimulus can have a unique meaning. Perception is much more than a physiological reaction. Each individual perceives things in a different way and this is what makes us so amazing.
