Flavor
When most people think about food, they think more about the flavor of the food rather than the importance it plays in survival. The combination of taste and olfaction creates flavor. Flavor is the impression you experience from this combination. Flavor can be altered if the combination of Taste plus Olfaction is interrupted. To experience a disruption in flavor hold your nose while you are eating, you will not be able to taste the flavor of the food. Taste and smell works closely together to create flavor. Individuals with smell and taste disorders may have a problem distinguishing flavor. An example of a smeel disorder is anosmia. Anosmia is the inability to detect smells at all. Individuals with anosmia typically can not taste flavor in food.
