Prosopagnosia

Prosopagnosia is difficulty in recognizing the faces of similar people. This condition may even restrict the person from distinguishing close friends and family, or worse, themselves in a mirror.

describes a few different case studies with prosopagnosia. The first reported case was a child at five years old. He had come from a normal pregnancy with no complications, and developed normally. He rapidly excelled in reading and vocabulary, becoming annoyed at the slow pace of his peers. When tested in the laboratory it was discovered that TA met or exceeded all of his peers at all tasks except for visual recognition. He could not distinguish himself from a picture of his brother, and would ask random strangers if they were his parents.
