Blind Woman Regains Sight

Lisa Reid was unfortunate enough to lose her eyesight at the mere age of 14.  At age 11 she developed a malignant brain tumor which put pressure on her eyes, causing optic atrophy, irreversible damage to her optic nerves which in turn caused her to lose her sight.  The doctors all told her that she will never be able to see again.  However, in November of 2013, 10 years after she lost her eyesight, that all changed.  She was reaching down to pet her guide dog when she hit her head hard on her coffee table.  She woke up on her back and opened her eyes, and suddenly realized she could see the white of her ceiling.  Every doctor that is testing her is baffled by the fact.  There is still irreversible damage to her optic nerves, meaning she shouldn't be able to see.  She is now near sighted in her left eye, and has near perfect vision in her right.  I'm so curious as to what could have possibly caused this change, but if these doctors can't figure it out I'm afraid I'll never know.

  1. This makes me wonder if she really had a tumor and/or if the damage on the optic nerves are really damaged.

  2. Wow, that is really cool, it also makes me wonder if she actually had a tumor. I guess there isn't a real way to test that though.
