Vocal Fry

This is a new technique that women are picking up and has to do with speech pathology. It was featured on NBC today with Doctor Nancy Snyderman and she explains in the video what vocal Fry is. Many popular singers like Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera to name a few use their vocal fry when they sing a song. For example, Mariah Carey uses it in her popular Christmas song "All I want for Christmas is You'. At one point in the song she sings a note so low that it is not possible to be in her singing range or register anymore. Vocal Fry sounds like when you put your tongue out and say "Ah" at the doctors. It is approximately, that 2/3 of the world uses vocal fry. It has become popular because people want to sound cool or famous but it shows more apparent in females than males. Britney Spears and Kesha also use vocal a lot.
