I never realized that facial expressions could affect your
mood. In the book they used a pen experiment and it showed that when the
individual held the pen between their teeth, their mouth was serendipitously
put into a smile so in return they found that when they looked at the cartoons
they were amused versus when they held the pen with their lips, their mouth was
put into a frown and they found the cartoons less amusing. I was always told a
smile is contagious. If someone smiles at you, you smile back at them. For me
it does put me in a better mood. I always try to be positive and have a smile
on my face no matter what mood I am in. I feel that if I am positive and happy,
I can make someone’s day a little better.

Hi Courtney!
ReplyDeleteI like this post because I've always believed that a smile could brighten someone's day. I am a very bubbly and friendly person, and can't help but always walk around with a smile on, especially when I am at work. Some of my coworkers say just seeing my contagious smile can put them in a better mood but you never know who is just saying that to be nice. After reading about how facial expressions can affect your mood I realized that maybe by my smiling at people and they then returning the smile, it would make sense that their day/mood might actually improve!
