Managing Blind Spots

http://teendriving.statefarm.com/road-to-safety/safe-driving/managing-blind-spots

To prevent blind spots have a friend walk around the permitter or the car so you become more aware of where they are. The first thing you want to do when you get into your car or another car is adjust the mirrors make sure they are lined down the side of the car and that you are able to see to the left and right of you. Make sure that the car is not running and that you adjust them properly also adjust the steering wheel, seat, seatback and even the head restraint for yourself as the driver. Most importantly adjust the rear view mirror so that you are able to get a full 360 degree view around the car. How do you find out how big your blind spot is? Have your friend stand at the rear corner of the car and slowly walk around the car perpendicular to you. Once they disappear have your friend walk towards the car and once you see them again that is how big your blind spot is. Make sure that you are aware of these blind spots while you are driving, to be able to see these sports you need to physically move your head to the back of the car for a quick look to make sure there are no cars driving along side of you.
