No, this isn't edited or photoshop... it's makeup! This woman was able to create the illusion that her face was transversely cut all by using makeup. This illusion works because of the shadows and highlights. Shadows and highlights can provide information about an objects dimension and depth. Interposition, or overlapping, and shadows make it appear as if each portion of the face is floating on top of another. In addition, the shadow creates depth in the back portion of each "slice" and the highlights bring out the front of each "slice".
